For hikers in good physical condition, this tour from Mürzzuschlag to the Kaarl Hut and further to Kreuzschober is highly recommended. The reward at the Kaarl Hut is a breathtaking panorama that makes the sometimes steep sections of the trail well worth it!

From the center of Mürzzuschlag or from the Bräuerteiche parking lot (No. 7), follow the path through the Lambach settlement to the Kaarl Hut. Simply follow the marked trail with the number 489, and you will easily reach your destination.

S6 Semmering Expressway, exit Mürzzuschlag.

We hike upwards through the steep alleys of the Lambach settlement to the forest edge. From here, we continue through the forest, initially on a relatively flat path, and after a significant change in direction, the trail becomes steeper. The path then leads us through a light forest with beautiful viewpoints. Finally, we walk along a side path and a forest road to the Kaarl Hut (Note: The Kaarl Hut is currently only open on weekends in winter, and closed in summer!). Before enjoying a well-deserved break, we make our way to the summit of Kreuzschober at 1,410 meters, where we are rewarded with a stunning panoramic view.

In winter, the hut is one of the most popular destinations for ski tourers on weekends in the Mürzer Oberland. Currently, the Kaarl Hut is closed in the summer!

By train to Mürzzuschlag train station, then by bus to the bus station.
