Our hike starts in the centre of Mitterdorf. We follow the markings 730 or 706A to the Stanglalpe and the nearby Leopold-Wittmaier-Hütte.

By car, take the S6 Semmering expressway and exit at St. Barbara – Mitterdorf. At the roundabout, take the third exit and follow the main road to the next roundabout. There, take the first exit – this will lead you to the center of Mitterdorf, where you can park your car.
Our hike begins in the village center of Mitterdorf. From here, we follow trail markers 730 and 706A up to the Stanglalm and on to the nearby Leopold-Wittmaier Hut, a welcoming spot for a rest and refreshment. The hut is open every weekend.
For the return, we can either retrace our steps or opt for a scenic descent into Krieglach. This alternative route follows trail number 729 over the Wolfsriegel ridge and down into the Freßnitzgraben valley. From there, the marked path leads us directly to the heart of Krieglach.
