Information
The Voisthalerhütte (ÖAV, Section Austria) is located at 1654m in the Upper Dullwitz, on a rocky spur in the beautifully rough Hochschwab, a paradise for hiking, climbing and observing animals (including ibex). It is a simple, historical refuge, contact point for long-distance hikers and groups as well as a training center, which can only be reached on foot via paths of various degrees of difficulty.
Visitors can easily get to the entrances to the mountain world by train and bus, but also by car.
The Voisthalerhütte is open daily between May 1st and October 26th. It has a spacious terrace and a cozy dining room. The mountain enthusiastic team welcomes you with food, drink and a nice chat, if it fits.
If the guests stay overnight, they can also have a rich dinner and breakfast; the kitchen predominantly uses food from the immediate area, is down-to-earth, Styrian, but also exotic, always trying hard to provide variety. The bar offers homemade syrups made from mountain herbs, spirits from a nearby, award-winning family distillery, selected beers and wines.
Due to the new building, which has been under construction next to the old hut since 2020 and is expected to be completed in the 2021 season, there are currently only 8 beds in 2 rooms and 31 mattress spaces in 3 camps.
Hut sleeping bags are compulsory in rooms and camps; the sleeping places can be occupied from late afternoon and must be vacated in the morning by 9 a.m.In addition, the house has an open winter room during the winter break, which should only be used in emergencies.
