“... God gave a lemon more sense than you...”
Atlanta, Georgia, 1948:
Miss Daisy is a 72-year-old retired schoolteacher. After she causes an accident with her car one day, her son Boolie buys her a new car and cautiously hires the Black Hoke Coleburn as her chauffeur. Miss Daisy initially refuses to accept his services, but Hoke meets her stubbornness with patience and calm. Gradually, a respectful friendship develops between the self-centered old lady and the life-experienced driver.
Set against the backdrop of racial segregation in America in the 1940s, the initial aversion transforms into a sensitive social piece about prejudices, dignity, and mutual understanding.
