Viennese Blood by Johann Strauss (Son)
Production: Verein Musiktheater Leoben
In 2025, the master of the Viennese operetta will celebrate his 200th birthday. The Music Theatre Leoben congratulates the king of waltz at the year's end with a production of the famous operetta. Count Balduin Zedlau, envoy of Reuß-Schleiz-Greiz, entertains himself in the absence of his wife Gabriele with various Viennese ladies. The "Viennese Blood" draws him in magically. He has an affair with the dancer Franzi Cagliari and is also flirting with his servant Josef's girlfriend, Pepi Pleininger. When his wife Gabriele returns to Vienna, a comedy of mistaken identities is set into motion, as only possible in Johann Strauss' operettas and with a wink of the eye. A wild commotion amidst the fine Viennese society takes its course, before in the end no one is sure who is actually with whom. But one thing is certain: You either have the Viennese Blood, or you don't!
