making it a rewarding destination for ambitious mountain hikers.
The starting point for this mountain tour is Wald am Schoberpass. The ascent follows forest trails to the Aigelsbrunner Alm, a traditional mountain hut with views of the
surrounding mountain landscape. Guests are welcomed by Roswitha, who is also happy to share insights into life on the mountain pasture. The subsequent
summit tour via Lahnerleitenspitze, Speikkogel, and Hinkareck follows a section of the Eisenerzer-Alpen-Höhenweg trail. The route requires good physical condition and
sure-footedness and offers sweeping views of the Radmer Valley with the Lugauer as well as the Palten and Liesing valleys.

We start at the Wald am Schoberpass train station (841 m) and first head to the town center. Passing the “Styrian Iron Trail” hiking overview board, we follow the road slightly uphill, turn left toward “Naturfreundehaus St. Michael” and walk comfortably uphill until the asphalt road ends. The rest of the trail starts on a forest road, where you should look out for the wooden signposts towards Leobner. After several sections of forest road, some of which are slightly downhill, we reach the first signpost for “Aigelsbrunner Alm.” We hike along forest paths and trails through a shady ditch, reach the access road to the alpine pasture, pass the Jungfrausprung crossroads, and finally arrive at the Aigelsbrunner Alm with its Halterhütte hut (1,526 m) and hunting lodge. From here, we keep slightly to the left uphill; the path is difficult to see in places.
From Leobner Törl, orientation becomes easier again. We continue to the right, pass the “Heiliger Brunnen” spring, and after a short, steeper climb, we see the Lahnerleitenspitze (2,027 m). A short but worthwhile detour takes us to the summit. The trail continues to climb and descend steadily over the Speikkogel (1,992 m) and the Hinkareck (1,932 m) to the Antonikreuz junction. A few meters before this saddle, we turn sharply right and follow the trail downhill. Soon we reach the forest and follow the markings back to Wald am Schoberpaß via the ruined Brunnebenalm (1,510 m).
