SkillThe tour in numbers
The roughly 15 km long, challenging ski tour to the Große Tragl takes about 5 hours and offers impressive views. The ascent leads from the Tauplitzalm over the Traglhals to the 2,197-meter summit, with the descent passing through the “Geisterwald” (Ghost Forest) or via the Haberboden.
The ski tour to the Große Tragl is one of the more challenging yet scenically impressive tours on the Tauplitzalm. Covering around 15 km in distance, with approximately 1,200 meters of elevation gain and a hiking time of 4½ to 5½ hours, it requires good fitness, technique, and alpine experience.
The ascent begins on the Tauplitzalm and leads across the wide alpine plateau, past the Steirersee huts and over the Traglhals to the 2,197-meter summit. A magnificent panoramic view rewards those who reach the top. The descent follows through the “Geisterwald” (Ghost Forest) or via the Haberboden back to the Tauplitzalm.
Along the way, there are several cozy places to stop for refreshments, such as the Hollhaus, Linzerhaus, or down in the valley, the Kirchenwirt.
