More information

The best way to plan the approach to the Tauplitzalm is with google.at/maps.

A ten-kilometer toll road leads from Bad Mitterndorf to the Tauplitzalm.

The Tauplitzalm is crossed in an easterly direction over the high plateau... A short descent leads down to the Steirerseehütten. Here is now left over wooded slopes northward towards Sturzhahn ascended. Now a long karst area opens up under the falls of Sturzhahn and Tragl - called "in the cirques". This is crossed past the Jungbauernkreuz.

The Großes Tragl is bypassed in a large left turn north to the Traglhals, the depression between Großes Tragl and Bartlrücken. A wide saddle separates the Große Tragl from the western Scheiblingtragl. Via a flat ridge, the broad summit roof of the Scheiblingtragl is reached from the north.

Descent into the saddle and right down into the wide hollow of the Haberboden. To the left of the Gassl ridge, you ski around the southern drop of the Scheiblingtragl until you reach the entrance to the Kitzloch. Now the steep gully is descended to the foothills of the Langkar. Westwards, the route descends through the lower Langkar in the sparse forest to the Ödernalm.

Here you mount your skis and climb along the marked summer trail for about 400 meters to the Öderntörl. On the eastern slopes of the Schneiderkogel you cross the Großsee flat back to the ski area near the Hollhaus and the parking lot of the Tauplitzalm.

On the way to the Scheiblingtragl it is also worth making a detour to the Großer Tragl.
At the end of the Tauplitzalm alpine road there is a large parking lot where there is enough parking space.
