SkillThe tour in numbers
The winter hike from Bad Aussee to Grundlsee is a beautiful, easy to moderately challenging tour through the Styrian Salzkammergut – about 4.3 km long and taking around 1½ hours, perfect for peaceful winter days.
The trail starts at the Kurpark in Bad Aussee, leading through Kirchengasse and Tauscherin-Gasse, then continues through a small forest to the Waldpromenade. This section runs for about two kilometers upstream along the Traun River through light woodland. After approximately 300 meters, you reach your destination – the Seeklause at Grundlsee. The return follows the same route.
Along the way, there are several places to stop for refreshments, such as Gasthaus-SEEBLICK or Zloam-Wirt.
Tip: Shortly before reaching Grundlsee, you’ll enjoy a fantastic view of the frozen lake and the surrounding peaks (Loser, Backenstein).
Parking: Paid parking is available in the town center of Bad Aussee. Parken in Bad Aussee
