More information
The SOPHIE via ferrata on the Loser offers an ideal experience for beginners and families with children. With this innovative via ferrata in Ausseerland, the Loser Bergbahnen are expanding their alpine offering with an exciting but easily doable route for all age groups. The via ferrata runs across the Dimlwand on the Loser plateau and is perfect for a first introduction to via ferrata climbing.
Named after Sophie Charlotte, the sister of Empress Elisabeth, the Sophie via ferrata is the charming little sister of the famous "SISI" panoramic via ferrata. With a length of 300 meters and a height difference of 70 meters, the route leads over well-secured rock sections and offers some exciting C sections. The rest of the route is in the A/B range, making it ideal for via ferrata beginners in Ausseerland.
The approach starts at the Loseralm. A short hiking trail leads directly to the start of the Dimlwand. From there, the route leads over varied passages to the summit area. If you don't want to tackle the final ascent, you can safely exit via an emergency exit along the base of the wall.
The via ferrata is open from May to November and is not only suitable for young people and beginners, but also for anyone who wants to refresh or practise their skills. Recommended equipment includes a helmet, climbing harness and via ferrata set.
Important notes: There is a risk of slipping in wet conditions and danger to life in thunderstorms. In emergencies: dial 140.
The via ferrata was realized by Reinhard Ranner (Seilarbeit Ranner), initiated and operated by Markus Raich and Loser Bergbahnen GmbH & Co KG.
The "SOPHIE" route is an ideal beginners' project in the Ausseerland climbing area. The climb is also the perfect opportunity to gain your first experience of alpine climbing in Ausseerland as part of a climbing vacation in Ausseerland.
The toll road is only open when the Panoramabahn is not in operation!
