The via ferrata "Gamsblick" on the Traweng is embedded between Tauplitzalm and the Tote Gebirge. Climbers have an impressive view of the mountain landscape from here.

The name gives it away: this via ferrata is only for chamois and experts. In difficulty level "C", you climb the eastern wall to the 1,981 m high summit of the Traweng. Included: great nature cinema with 360 degree panoramic views and overwhelming feelings of freedom.

On the way to the via ferrata, it is worthwhile to pay a short visit to the mountain church on the Tauplitzalm.

Arrival by car to Tauplitz to the valley station of the 4-seater chairlift. From there, take the 4-seater chairlift to the high plateau.
Arrival from Bad Mitterndorf by car to the Tauplitzalm. (toll road)It takes about 45 minutes to one hour to reach the via ferrata.

The tour is started at the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm or at the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift. You hike in an easterly direction across flowering alpine meadows over the largest lake plateau in Central Europe. The way to the via ferrata is well signposted.

Before you reach the Steirerseebankerl, turn left. At the bench it is worthwhile to take a short break to enjoy the nature and the magnificent view of the Steirersee. Then follow the path to the left in the direction of Steirertor until you reach the start of the via ferrata.On the 200 m long via ferrata you are accompanied by impressive panoramic views.

The descent is via the marked path.

Climbing absolutely only in good weather. In case of rainfall it becomes dangerous here!

There are plenty of places to stop along the entire route to the via ferrata.

Arrival by public transport:

There is plenty of free parking available at the 4-seater chairlift in Tauplitz and at the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm.
