Enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and the snow-sure cross-country ski trails at about 1600 meters above sea level on the high plateau of the Tauplitzalm.
The cross-country trails in the village of Tauplitz are located at about 900 meters above sea level.

The cross-country skiing region of Bad Mitterndorf - Tauplitz offers an especially diverse experience with the high-altitude trails on the Tauplitzalm. Here, you can choose between snow-safe high-altitude tracks and somewhat easier trails in the valley. In addition, there is a wide range of pampering options for cross-country skiers, from warm hospitality to soothing relaxation in the warm thermal waters of the GrimmingTherme. One thing to note right away: This cross-country skiing region is something very special! As part of the "Styrian Salzkammergut Trails," it impresses with a trail network of more than 130 kilometers.
Gentle winter landscapes and slightly hilly terrain alternate with snow-safe tracks on the mountain. Even professional athletes appreciate this, and it is not uncommon to spot various national teams training in the region. But even if you don't follow in the footsteps of the pros, Bad Mitterndorf has a lot to offer for recreational skiers. How about a relaxed afternoon at the Grimming-Therme? After a round of skiing outdoors, the pleasant warmth is just what you need!

Outside of operating hours, the use of the cross-country ski trails is prohibited due to grooming work!

Is there a possibility for luggage storage in Bad Mitterndorf?
- Luggage Storage
There is no luggage storage at the train stations. The information office in Tauplitz and Bad Mitterndorf offers luggage storage during office opening hours in the information offices for 4.00 euros per piece of luggage.
- Lockers on the Tauplitzalm: Practical, Safe, and Sustainable
Since the winter season 2024/2025, you have the opportunity to store your personal items securely and free of charge on the Tauplitzalm. Right at the parking lot on the Alm, you can conveniently store your bags, backpacks, and other items before heading out to the cross-country skiing trails. For the locker, you need a 2.00-euro coin as a deposit.
Especially practical: The cross-country ski ticket for 1 day including ascent includes a one-time free ride up and down with the bus of the Alpenstraße or with the 4-seater chairlift of the Tauplitz cable cars. Take advantage of the opportunity to sustainably and stress-free reach the Alm while benefiting from our new locker service.
