The "Steirische Salzkammergut-Loipe" in Bad Mitterndorf-Tauplitz/alm-Pichl/Kainisch currently offers one of the most advanced cross-country skiing facilities in the Alps.

Right in the heart of the Ausseerland Salzkammergut lies the trail network centered around Bad Mitterndorf, stretching all the way to Tauplitz and Pichl/Kainisch. Alternatively, the trails on the Tauplitzalm are also available. With around 160 kilometers of trails, there is a suitable route for every taste – and every level of endurance. How about a round around the romantically snow-covered Ödensee? Or a tour to the Kulm with its impressive ski flying jump? Put on your bindings and hit the trail in the cross-country skiing region around Bad Mitterndorf. To explore all the trails here, you should bring some time. It doesn’t matter whether you prefer an active sporty approach or a relaxed cozy one: there is plenty of choice.
An impressive natural backdrop provides the perfect setting. And during the subsequent stop for refreshments, you can treat yourself well: Traditional gastronomy and rustic hut cuisine right by the trails ensure your physical well-being, while wellness enthusiasts can fully enjoy the nearby Grimming Therme.

Daily when snow conditions are suitable from 08:30 AM to 05:00 PM.
Outside of operating hours, the use of the cross-country ski trails is prohibited due to grooming work!

- From Bad Mitterndorf station, the Krungl track (M2) is in immediate proximity.
- From Tauplitz station, the Kulm track (M1) is nearby.
- From Bad Mitterndorf Heilbrunn station, the Neuhofen track (M3) is the closest.

Season ticket Plus advance booking (until 12.12.2025): Euro 275,00 - (includes one free daily ascent and descent on the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road bus (www.alpenstrasse.at) and one ascent and descent on the 4-seater chairlift of the Tauplitz Bergbahnen (www.dietauplitz.com). The ascent and descent rides can be used once a day.

Good to know
- Luggage Storage
There is no luggage storage at the train stations. The information offices in Tauplitz and Bad Mitterndorf offer luggage storage during office hours in the information offices for 4.00 euros per piece of luggage.
- Lockers on the Tauplitzalm: Practical, Safe and Sustainable
Since the winter season 2024/2025, you have the option to securely store your personal items for free on the Tauplitzalm. Right at the parking area on the mountain, you can comfortably stow your bags, backpacks, and other items before heading out onto the cross-country ski trails. You will need a 2.00-euro coin as a deposit for the lockers.
Especially practical: The day pass for the cross-country ski trails includes a one-time free ascent and descent with the bus of the Alpine road or with the 4-person chairlift of the Tauplitz cable cars. Take the opportunity to reach the mountain sustainably and stress-free while benefiting from our new locker service.
With this offer, we want to provide you with more comfort and also contribute to sustainability by providing you a practical changing and storage option right on site.
- The ascent is only included in the day pass for the ski trails and in the season pass 2025/26 Plus.
